Landscaping design ideas with pebble

For a garden decoration project that implies more than a basic walkway, use decorative mosaic or different models of "pebble" spread with a thin layer, over geotextile membrane. This procedure protects pebbles from getting dirty, allows the soil to breathe while preserving moist and shapes an amazing garden. The main advantage of using a permeable surface in the garden is the option of allowing water to drain through the soil and the facile installation, as long as you pay attention to details.
Practical tips
Necessary tools: scissors or sharp knife, geotextile membrane, spikes, small crushed stone and measuring tape.
Installing membrane
- Cut a piece from the geotextile membrane to match the border. For large areas you will need to join more bands of geotextile membrane – in this situation, overlap a larger portion of the membrane on the edges, fastening it with spikes.
- Soak the plant pots in a water vessel for half an hour. Later, place the plants (in potts) above the membrane. Check if plants have enough room to develop – as soon as the crushed stone has been installed, moving the plants will not be easy.
- Use scissors or a sharp knife for cutting the membrane in the shape of a cross, under each plant. Bend the pieces from the cut membrane. Later, cut a quite large piece from the membrane that allows you to dig a pretty large hole for planting.

- Remove the plants from the pots and place them into the planting holes. Plants should be laid out in the ground at the same depth as it would have been in the pot. Fill the area surrounding the root of the plants with soil.
- Compact the soil from the root of the plants with your hands, then detach the membrane pieces and place them at the base of the plant.

- If needed, cut the membrane to fit nicely around the plant's stems. Add plenty of water.
- Cover the membrane with a thin layer of pebble or natural stone mosaic. A 5-8 cm depth prevents the white stains from occurring. When you will want to move a plant, secure the piece of membrane (above the area where you planted it) with spikes, for preventing the occurrence of weeds through the cut membrane.
A garden surface covered with this pebble usually looks better when bounded by a solid sidewalk.
