Mount Taishan of the Five Sacred Mountains of China

Due to an excellent balance of ethnic and ancient values, Mount Tai has been revered for over 2 000 years. It is believed that Mount Taishan stones have the power to ward off evil spirits and promote harmony, good luck, and wealth.

Mount Taishan is the home of 1 800 stone tablets and 22 temples, including the Temple to the God of Taishan, hosting a 1009 AD Taoist painting. The cypress trees planted 2 100 years ago and other hundreds of years old trees beautifully complement the stone’s mystical accents. The 6660 cut steps, plus the wide range of gates, arches, and pavilions are nothing more than human interventions with the mountain’s natural stone architecture.

There are places in the world where people caress the stone, sometimes changing its shape, even its structure, in an attempt to mark the passing of time. On the Sacred Mount Taishan, time slices slowly and monotonously through the ages, allowing its primary wilderness to be tamed by our touches, as a symbiosis of ritual reflexes.
